1 ¶ David et les chefs de l’armée mirent à part pour le service ceux des fils d’Asaph, d’Héman et de Jeduthun qui prophétisaient en s’accompagnant de la harpe, du luth et des cymbales. Et voici le nombre de ceux qui avaient des fonctions à remplir.
25:1-31
David, le « chantre agréable d’Israël » (#2S 23: 1), accorda une place centrale à la musique dans l’adoration.
les chefs de l’armée. David comptait sur le soutien de ses hommes forts (cf. #1Ch 11:10).
d’Asaph, d’Héman et de Jeduthun. Les trois principaux chefs dans le domaine musical (cf. #1Ch 6:31-48).
prophétisaient. Le terme ne doit pas nécessairement être pris dans le sens d’une révélation, mais plutôt dans le sens d’une proclamation et d’une exhortation par le biais des paroles des chants (cf. #1Ch 25:2-3). Prophétiser, ce n’est pas forcément prédire l’avenir ou transmettre des révélations directes, mais c’est annoncer la vérité (v. #1Ch 25:5) aux hommes (cf. #1Co 14: 3), et la musique peut être un instrument de proclamation dans le cadre de la louange (v. #1Ch 25:3). David et les chefs choisirent les hommes les plus capables (v. #1Ch 25:7) pour conduire le peuple dans l’adoration à travers leur musique.
2 Des fils d’Asaph : Zaccur, Joseph, Nethania et Aschareéla, fils d’Asaph, sous la direction d’Asaph qui prophétisait suivant les ordres du roi.
3 De Jeduthun, les fils de Jeduthun : Guedalia, Tseri, Esaïe, Haschabia, Matthithia et Schimeï, six, sous la direction de leur père Jeduthun qui prophétisait avec la harpe pour louer et célébrer l’Éternel.
4 D’Héman, les fils d’Héman : Bukkija, Matthania, Uziel, Schebuel, Jerimoth, Hanania, Hanani, Éliatha, Guiddalthi, Romamthi-Ezer, Joschbekascha, Mallothi, Hothir, Machazioth,
5 tous fils d’Héman, qui était voyant du roi pour révéler les paroles de Dieu et pour exalter sa puissance ; Dieu avait donné à Héman quatorze fils et trois filles.
voyant. Terme qu’on utilisait pour désigner un prophète, car il connaissait et comprenait les voies et la volonté de Dieu.
6 Tous ceux-là étaient sous la direction de leurs pères, pour le chant de la maison de l’Éternel, et avaient des cymbales, des luths et des harpes pour le service de la maison de Dieu. Asaph, Jeduthun et Héman recevaient les ordres du roi.
7 Ils étaient au nombre de deux cent quatre-vingt-huit, y compris leurs frères exercés au chant de l’Éternel, tous ceux qui étaient habiles.
8 ¶ Ils tirèrent au sort pour leurs fonctions, petits et grands, maîtres et disciples.
9 Le premier sort échut, pour Asaph, à Joseph ; le second, à Guedalia, lui, ses frères et ses fils, douze ;

Les musiciens furent partagés en 24 classes (correspondant à celles des sacrificateurs; 24:4-18) de 12 musiciens chacune, ce qui faisait un total de 288. Ils devaient donner les impulsions nécessaires aux 4000 instrumentistes (#1Ch 23: 5).

1 ¶ And David and the captains of the host set apart for the service those of the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, who prophesied with the harp, the lute, and the cymbals. And here is the number of those who had duties to perform.
25: 1-31
David, the "pleasing chanter of Israel" (# 2S 23: 1), accorded a central place to music in worship.
The heads of the army. David relied on the support of his strong men (cf # 1Ch 11:10).
Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun. The three main conductors in the musical field (see # 1Ch 6: 31-48).
Prophesied. The term does not necessarily have to be taken in the sense of a revelation, but rather in the sense of proclamation and exhortation through the words of the songs (see # 1Ch 25: 2-3). To prophesy is not necessarily to predict the future or to convey direct revelations, but to proclaim the truth (v. # 1Ch 25: 5) to men (cf # 1Co 14: 3), and music can Be an instrument of proclamation within the framework of praise (v. # 1Ch 25: 3). David and the leaders chose the most capable men (v. # 1Ch 25: 7) to lead the people into worship through their music.
2 From the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Ashareelah the son of Asaph, under the guidance of Asaph, who prophesied according to the king's commandments.
3 Of Jeduthun the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Isaiah, Hashabiah, Matthiahiah, and Shimei, six, under the guidance of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with the harp to praise and praise the LORD.

seeing. A term used to describe a prophet, for he knew and understood the ways and will of God.
6 All these were under the guidance of their fathers for the song of the house of the LORD, and had cymbals, and lutes, and harps for the service of the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman received the king's orders.
7 There were two hundred and eighty-eight, including their brethren, practiced in the song of the Lord, all who were skillful.
8 ¶ And they drew lots for their duties, great and great, masters and disciples.
9 And the first lot went forth unto Asaph unto Joseph; The second to Gedaliah, his brothers and sons, twelve;

The musicians were divided into 24 classes (corresponding to those of the priests, 24: 4-18) of 12 musicians each, which made a total of 288. They were to give the necessary impulses to the 4,000 instrumentalists (# 1Ch 23: 5).
