1 ¶ Benjamin engendra Béla, son premier-né, Aschbel le second, Achrach le troisième,
8:1-40
Cette section développe la généalogie de Benjamin, déjà mentionnée en #1Ch 7:6-12, probablement en raison des liens importants de cette tribu avec celle de Juda dans le royaume du sud. C’étaient ces deux tribus, déportées avec les Lévites, qui formaient le reste de retour à Jérusalem en 538 av. J.-C.
2 Nocha le quatrième, et Rapha le cinquième.
3 Les fils de Béla furent : Addar, Guéra, Abihud,
4 Abischua, Naaman, Achoach,
5 Guéra, Schephuphan et Huram.
6 Voici les fils d’Echud, qui étaient chefs de famille parmi les habitants de Guéba, et qui les transportèrent à Manachath:
7 Naaman, Achija et Guéra. Guéra, qui les transporta, engendra Uzza et Achichud.
8 Schacharaïm eut des enfants au pays de Moab, après qu’il eut renvoyé Huschim et Baara, ses femmes.
9 Il eut de Hodesch, sa femme : Jobab, Tsibja, Méscha, Malcam,
10 Jeuts, Schocja et Mirma. Ce sont là ses fils, chefs de famille.
11 Il eut de Huschim : Abithub et Elpaal.
12 Fils d’Elpaal : Eber, Mischeam, et Schémer, qui bâtit Ono, Lod et les villes de son ressort.
13 Beria et Schéma, qui étaient chefs de famille parmi les habitants d’Ajalon, mirent en fuite les habitants de Gath.
14 Achjo, Schaschak, Jerémoth,
15 Zebadja, Arad, Eder,
16 Micaël, Jischpha et Jocha étaient fils de Beria. —
17 Zebadja, Meschullam, Hizki, Héber,
18 Jischmeraï, Jizlia et Jobab étaient fils d’Elpaal. —
19 Jakim, Zicri, Zabdi,
20 Eliénaï, Tsilthaï, Eliel,
21 Adaja, Beraja et Schimrath étaient fils de Schimeï. —
22 Jischpan, Eber, Eliel,
23 Abdon, Zicri, Hanan,
24 Hanania, Elam, Anthothija,
25 Jiphdeja et Penuel étaient fils de Schaschak. —
26 Schamscheraï, Schecharia, Athalia,
27 Jaaréschia, Elija et Zicri étaient fils de Jerocham. —
28 Ce sont là des chefs de famille, chefs selon leurs générations. Ils habitaient à Jérusalem.
29 Le père de Gabaon habitait à Gabaon, et le nom de sa femme était Maaca.
30 Abdon, son fils premier-né, puis Tsur, Kis, Baal, Nadab,
31 Guedor, Achjo, et Zéker.
32 Mikloth engendra Schimea. Ils habitaient aussi à Jérusalem près de leurs frères, avec leurs frères. —
33 ¶ Ner engendra Kis ; Kis engendra Saül ; Saül engendra Jonathan, Malki-Schua, Abinadab et Eschbaal.
34 Fils de Jonathan : Merib-Baal. Merib-Baal engendra Michée.
35 Fils de Michée : Pithon, Mélec, Thaeréa et Achaz.
36 Achaz engendra Jehoadda ; Jehoadda engendra Alémeth, Azmaveth et Zimri ; Zimri engendra Motsa ;
37 Motsa engendra Binea. Rapha, son fils ; Eleasa, son fils ; Atsel, son fils ;
38 Atsel eut six fils, dont voici les noms: Azrikam, Bocru, Ismaël, Schearia, Abdias et Hanan. Tous ceux-là étaient fils d’Atsel. —
39 Fils d’Eschek, son frère : Ulam, son premier-né, Jeusch le second, et Eliphéleth le troisième.
40 Les fils d’Ulam furent de vaillants hommes, tirant de l’arc ; et ils eurent beaucoup de fils et de petits-fils, cent cinquante. Tous ceux-là sont des fils de Benjamin.

1 ¶ Benjamin begat Béla, his firstborn, Aschbel the second, Ashrach the third,

This section develops the genealogy of Benjamin, already mentioned in # 1Ch 7: 6-12, probably because of the important links of this tribe with that of Judah in the southern kingdom. It was these two tribes, deported with the Levites, who formed the remainder of their return to Jerusalem in 538 BC. J.-C.

3 And the sons of Bela were Addar, Gera, and Abihud,
4 Abischua, Naaman, Achoach,
5 Gera, and Shephuphan, and Huram.
6 These were the sons of Echud, who were the heads of the fathers of the inhabitants of Geba, and carried them to Manachath:
7 Naaman, Ahijah and Gera. Guera, who transported them, begat Uzza and Achishud.
8 And Shaharaim had children in the land of Moab, after he had sent Huschim and Baara his wives.
9 And he had of Hodesh his wife, Jobab, Zibiah, Meshach, Malamah,
10 Jeeps, Schocja and Mirma. These are his sons, heads of families.
11 From Hushim he had Abithub and Elpaal.
12 And the sons of Elpaal, Eber, and Mischeam, and Shemer, who built Ono, and Lod, and the cities thereof.
13 And Beriah and Shema, who were the heads of the fathers of the inhabitants of Ajalon, put to flight the inhabitants of Gath.

16 Michael, Jisphpha, and Jocha were sons of Beriah. -
17 Zebadja, Meschullam, Hizki, Heber,
18 And Jischmerai, and Jizlah, and Jobab, were the sons of Elpaal. -
19 Jakim, Zicri, Zabdi,
20 Elienai, Tsilthai, Eliel,
21 Adaiah, Beraiah, and Shimrath were sons of Shimei. -
22 Jischpan, Eber, Eliel,
23 Abdon, Zicri, Hanan,
24 Hanania, Elam, Anthothija,
25 Jiphdeja and Penuel were the sons of Shaschak. -
26 Schamscherai, Schecharia, Athaliah,
27 Jaareshiah, Elijah, and Zichri were the sons of Jerocham. -
28 These are heads of families, heads according to their generations. They lived in Jerusalem.
29 And the father of Gibeon dwelt in Gibeon, and the name of his wife was Maacah.
30 Abdon his firstborn son, then Tsur, Kis, Baal, Nadab,
31 Guedor, Achjo, and Zeker.
32 And Mikloth begat Shimea. They also dwelt in Jerusalem near their brethren, with their brethren. -
33 ¶ And Ner begat Kis; Kis begat Saul; Saul begat Jonathan, Malki-Schua, Abinadab and Eschbaal.
34 The sons of Jonathan: Merib-Baal. Merib-Baal begat Micaiah.
35 The sons of Micah: Pithon, Melech, Thaerah and Ahaz.
36 And Ahaz begat Jehoaddah; Jehoaddah begat Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri; Zimri engendered Words;
37 Motsa engendered Binea. Rapha, his son; Eleasa, his son; Atsel his son;
38 And Azeel had six sons, whose names were Azrikam, Bocru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan. All these were the sons of Azelem. -
39 And the sons of Eschek his brother: Ulam, his first-born Jeusch the second, and Elipheleth the third.
40 The sons of Ulam were valiant men, drawing from the bow; And they had many sons and grandsons, one hundred and fifty. All these are the sons of Benjamin.
