ÉSAÏE 3 : 1 À 13***
1 ¶ Le Seigneur, l’Éternel des armées, Va ôter de Jérusalem et de Juda Tout appui et toute ressource, Toute ressource de pain Et toute ressource d’eau,
2 Le héros et l’homme de guerre, Le juge et le prophète, le devin et l’ancien,
3 Le chef de cinquante et le magistrat, Le conseiller, l’artisan distingué et l’habile enchanteur.
4 Je leur donnerai des jeunes gens pour chefs, Et des enfants domineront sur eux.
5 Il y aura réciprocité d’oppression parmi le peuple ; L’un opprimera l’autre, chacun son prochain ; Le jeune homme attaquera le vieillard, Et l’homme de rien celui qui est honoré.
6 On ira jusqu’à saisir son frère dans la maison paternelle : Tu as un habit, sois notre chef ! Prends ces ruines sous ta main ! —
7 Ce jour-là même il répondra : Je ne saurais être un médecin, Et dans ma maison il n’y a ni pain ni vêtement ; Ne m’établissez pas chef du peuple !
8 Jérusalem chancelle, Et Juda s’écroule, Parce que leurs paroles et leurs œuvres sont contre l’Éternel, Bravant les regards de sa majesté.
9 ¶ L’aspect de leur visage témoigne contre eux, Et, comme Sodome, ils publient leur crime, sans dissimuler. Malheur à leur âme ! Car ils se préparent des maux.
10 Dites que le juste prospérera, Car il jouira du fruit de ses œuvres.
11 Malheur au méchant ! il sera dans l’infortune, Car il recueillera le produit de ses mains.
12 Mon peuple a pour oppresseurs des enfants, Et des femmes dominent sur lui ; Mon peuple, ceux qui te conduisent t’égarent, Et ils corrompent la voie dans laquelle tu marches.
13 L’Éternel se présente pour plaider, Il est debout pour juger les peuples.

va ôter … l’habile enchanteur. Le jugement de Dieu incluait la révocation des chefs du peuple.

Le Seigneur, l’Éternel des armées. Soulignant son autorité suprême, Dieu se donne le titre d’Adonaï (« le Seigneur »), qui implique sa souveraineté sur toute la création, et le titre puissant et guerrier d’« Éternel des armées ».
3:4-5
enfants … est honoré. L’inexpérience dans la gestion gouvernementale devait conduire à la déchéance et à l’irresponsabilité, à tous les niveaux de la vie nationale.
3:6-7
sous ta main … chef du peuple. L’anarchie serait à son comble, et personne ne serait assez fou pour accepter une position d’autorité sur un tel peuple.
3:8
Jérusalem … Juda. La chute de Jérusalem (586 av. J.-C.) ne représenterait qu’un accomplissement partiel de cette prophétie. Son accomplissement final interviendra dans la période précédant immédiatement le retour de Christ.
contre l’Éternel. La racine des problèmes de Sion est dévoilée: c’est une rébellion déclarée contre le Seigneur. Les Judéens péchaient de façon éhontée, sans même s’en cacher (v. #Esa 3:9).

des enfants … femmes. Les femmes et les enfants étaient considérés comme inaptes à exercer une responsabilité gouvernementale, de sorte qu’ils illustrent ici des dirigeants incompétents.

¶ 1 The Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread and the whole stay of water,
2 The hero and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, the diviner and the elder,
3 The captain of fifty, and the honorable man, and the counselor, and the cunning artificer, enchanting.
4 And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
5 There will be reciprocal oppression among the people; One oppress another, every man his neighbor; The young man against the old, and the man of no one who is honored.
6 We shall take hold of his brother in his father's house: You have a habit, be our leader! Take this ruin be under thy hand! -
7 This very day he will answer: I can not be a doctor, and in my house there is neither bread nor clothing; Do not make me ruler of the people
8 Jerusalem ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
¶ 9 The show of their countenance doth witness against them, and as Sodom, they declare their sin, without concealing. Woe unto their soul! For they have rewarded evil.
10 Say ye to the righteous, that it shall eat the fruit of his works.
11 Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill, for he will collect the product of her hands.
12 for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them; My people, they which lead thee astray thee, and destroy the way of thy paths.
13 The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.

will remove ... the skillful enchanter. God's judgment included the removal of rulers.
3:1
The Lord, the LORD of hosts. Stressing his supreme authority, God gives the title Adonai ("Lord"), which implies sovereignty over all creation, and the powerful title and warrior "Lord of hosts."
3:4-5
children ... is honored. The inexperience in governance would lead to disqualification and irresponsibility at all levels of national life.
3:6-7
thy hand ... leader of the people. Lawlessness is at its height, and nobody would be crazy enough to accept a position of authority over such a people.
3:8
Jerusalem ... Judah. The fall of Jerusalem (586 BC.) Represents only a partial fulfillment of this prophecy. Her final performance will take place in the period immediately preceding the return of Christ.
against the LORD. The root problems of Zion is revealed: it is a rebellion against the Lord declared. Judah sinned shamelessly, without even hiding (see # Isa 3:9).
3:12
children ... women. Women and children were considered unfit to perform a governmental responsibility, so they illustrate here incompetent leaders.
