ÉZÉKIEL 20 : 36 À 42 ***
36 Comme je suis entré en jugement avec vos pères dans le désert du pays d’Egypte, ainsi j’entrerai en jugement avec vous, dit le Seigneur, l’Eternel.
37 Je vous ferai passer sous la verge, et je vous mettrai dans les liens de l’alliance.
38 Je séparerai de vous les rebelles et ceux qui me sont infidèles ; je les tirerai du pays où ils sont étrangers, mais ils n’iront pas au pays d’Israël. Et vous saurez que je suis l’Eternel.
39 Et vous, maison d’Israël, ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Eternel : Allez chacun servir vos idoles ! Mais après cela, vous m’écouterez, et vous ne profanerez plus mon saint nom par vos offrandes et par vos idoles.
40 Car sur ma montagne sainte, sur la haute montagne d’Israël, dit le Seigneur, l’Eternel, là toute la maison d’Israël, tous ceux qui seront dans le pays me serviront ; là je les recevrai favorablement, je rechercherai vos offrandes, les prémices de vos dons, et tout ce que vous me consacrerez.
41 Je vous recevrai comme un parfum d’une agréable odeur, quand je vous aurai fait sortir du milieu des peuples, et rassemblés des pays où vous êtes dispersés ; et je serai sanctifié par vous aux yeux des nations.
42 Et vous saurez que je suis l’Eternel, quand je vous ramènerai dans le pays d’Israël, dans le pays que j’avais juré de donner à vos pères.

passer sous la verge. Dieu employa ici l’image d’un berger, tout à fait appropriée puisqu’il se présentait comme le grand berger d’Israël (#Ez 34:11-13 ; #Jér 23:5-8). Comme tel, il ramène dans le troupeau la brebis égarée (cf. #Jér 33:13), fait défiler les bêtes devant lui, sépare les brebis des boucs (cf. #Mt 25) et les fait passer sous sa verge pour s’assurer qu’elles ne sont pas blessées. Dieu amènera son peuple dans la nouvelle alliance en lui donnant son Esprit avec la vie (#Ez 36:24-27 ; #Ez 37:14 ; #Ez 39:29). C’est le tableau du salut final d’Israël (#Ro 11:26-33).
20: 38
séparerai de vous les rebelles. Dieu s’assurera qu’aucun rebelle, aucun de ceux qui n’auront pas connu le renouvellement apporté par son Esprit dans le salut, ne puisse revenir en Israël et prendre part au royaume messianique. Tous ceux à qui il permettra de revenir le serviront (v. #Ez 20: 40), contrairement à ceux qui servent des idoles (v. #Ez 20: 39). Cette purification aura lieu durant le « temps d’angoisse pour Jacob » (#Jér 30:7), pendant la grande tribulation (#Mt 24 :21).
20: 39 Si les membres du peuple persistaient dans leur idolâtrie, Dieu permettrait qu’ils en reçoivent le châtiment légitime. Il préférait qu’ils se conduisent en idolâtres invétérés, plutôt que de se prêter, comme ils le faisaient, à un rituel hypocrite d’adoration extérieure (cf. #Am 5:21-26).
20: 40-42
toute la maison … dans le pays. Le rassemblement promis dans le royaume terrestre du Messie se passera sur la terre d’où les Israélites ont été dispersés (v. #Ez 20: 41), celle qui a expressément été attribuée à leurs ancêtres (#Ez 36:28 ; #Ge 12:7). Ils seront tous « là », repentants (v. #Ez 20: 43) et sauvés (#Ro 11:26-27), servant le Seigneur d’un cœur non partagé, comme une nation unie dans son engagement à offrir un culte purifié (cf. #Esa 11:13).

36 As I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord GOD .
37 I will make you pass under the rod , and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant .
38 I will purge out from among you the rebels and those who transgress against me : I will bring them forth of the country where they sojourn , but they shall not enter the land of Israel . And you know that I am the LORD.
39 And you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD : Go serve your idols each ! But after that, you listen to me , and you do not profane my holy name with your gifts and with your idols .
40 For on my holy mountain, the high mountain of Israel, saith the Lord GOD , there shall all the house of Israel , all who are in the land , serve me: there I receive favorably , I will seek your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things .
41 I will accept you as a perfume of a sweet savor , when I bring you out from the peoples , and gather the countries where you have been scattered , and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen .
42 And you shall know that I am the LORD , when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the land which I swore to give to your fathers .

pass under the rod . God used by the image of a shepherd, very appropriate since presented himself as the great shepherd of Israel ( Ezekiel 34:11-13 # , # Jer 23:5-8 ) . As such, it brings in the herd lost sheep (cf. Jer 33:13 # ) , scrolled beast before him, separates the sheep from the goats (cf. Mt # 25) and passed under his rod to s' ensure they are not injured. God will bring his people into the new covenant by giving him his Spirit with life ( Ez 36:24-27 # , # Ez 37:14 ; # Ez 39:29 ) . This is the picture of the final salvation of Israel ( # Ro 11:26-33 ) .
20 : 38
from among you the rebels. God will ensure that no rebel, none of those who have not experienced the renewal brought by his Spirit in salvation , can not return to Israel and take part in the Messianic kingdom . All those to whom it will return the used (see # Ez 20: 40) , contrary to those who serve idols (v. # Ez 20: 39). This purification will take place during the "time of Jacob's trouble " ( Jer. 30:7 # ) during the great tribulation (# Mt 24: 21).
20: 39 If the members of the people persisted in their idolatry , God would they receive the rightful punishment. He preferred to conduct themselves in inveterate idolaters , rather than lend, as they did , a hypocrite external ritual worship ( cf. # Am 5:21-26 ) .
20 : 40-42
whole house ... in the country. The rally promised in the earthly kingdom of the Messiah will be spent on land where the Israelites were scattered (v. # Ez 20: 41) , which was specifically assigned to their ancestors (# Ez 36:28 ; # Ge 12:7). They will all be "there" repentant (see # Ez 20: 43) and saved ( # Ro 11:26-27 ) , serving the Lord with undivided heart , as a nation united in its commitment to offer worship purified (see # Isa 11:13 ) .
