8 Et vous, montagnes d’Israël, vous pousserez vos rameaux, Et vous porterez vos fruits pour mon peuple d’Israël ; Car ces choses sont près d’arriver.
9 Voici, je vous serai favorable, Je me tournerai vers vous, Et vous serez cultivées et ensemencées.
10 Je mettrai sur vous des hommes en grand nombre, La maison d’Israël tout entière ; Les villes seront habitées, Et l’on rebâtira sur les ruines.
11 Je multiplierai sur vous les hommes et les animaux ; Ils multiplieront et seront féconds ; Je veux que vous soyez habitées comme auparavant, Et je vous ferai plus de bien qu’autrefois ; Et vous saurez que je suis l’Eternel.
12 Je ferai marcher sur vous des hommes, mon peuple d’Israël, Et ils te posséderont ; Tu seras leur héritage, Et tu ne les détruiras plus.
13 Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Eternel : Parce qu’on vous dit : Tu as dévoré des hommes, Tu as détruit ta propre nation,
14 A cause de cela tu ne dévoreras plus d’hommes, Tu ne détruiras plus ta nation, Dit le Seigneur, l’Eternel.
15 Je ne te ferai plus entendre les outrages des nations, Et tu ne porteras plus l’opprobre des peuples ; Tu ne détruiras plus ta nation, Dit le Seigneur, l’Eternel.
16 ¶ La parole de l’Eternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:
17 Fils de l’homme, ceux de la maison d’Israël, quand ils habitaient leur pays, l’ont souillé par leur conduite et par leurs œuvres ; leur conduite a été devant moi comme la souillure d’une femme pendant son impureté.
18 Alors j’ai répandu ma fureur sur eux, à cause du sang qu’ils avaient versé dans le pays, et des idoles dont ils l’avaient souillé.
19 Je les ai dispersés parmi les nations, et ils ont été répandus en divers pays ; je les ai jugés selon leur conduite et selon leurs œuvres.
20 Ils sont arrivés chez les nations où ils allaient, et ils ont profané mon saint nom, en sorte qu’on disait d’eux : C’est le peuple de l’Eternel, c’est de son pays qu’ils sont sortis.
21 Et j’ai voulu sauver l’honneur de mon saint nom, que profanait la maison d’Israël parmi les nations où elle est allée.
22 C’est pourquoi dis à la maison d’Israël: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Eternel : Ce n’est pas à cause de vous que j’agis de la sorte, maison d’Israël ; c’est à cause de mon saint nom, que vous avez profané parmi les nations où vous êtes allés.
23 Je sanctifierai mon grand nom, qui a été profané parmi les nations, que vous avez profané au milieu d’elles. Et les nations sauront que je suis l’Eternel, dit le Seigneur, l’Eternel, quand je serai sanctifié par vous sous leurs yeux.

36:8-15 La terre d’Israël sera productive (vv. #Ez 36:8-9), abondamment peuplée (vv. #Ez 36:10-11), et connaîtra la paix (vv. #Ez 36:12-15). Toutes ces bénédictions s’accompliront dans le royaume du Messie. Le retour de l’exil babylonien ne représentait qu’un accomplissement partiel, un avant-goût de la plénitude qui prévaudra dans le royaume à venir.
36:16-19 Rétrospective qui expose la raison des châtiments infligés par Dieu à son peuple: Israël avait « souillé » sa terre par ses péchés, et le Seigneur l’avait purifiée. Cette souillure est comparée à celle de la femme pendant ses menstruations (v. #Ez 36:17).

profané mon saint nom. Même pendant leur dispersion, les Israélites déshonoraient Dieu aux yeux des païens. Ceux-ci pensaient que le Seigneur de ce peuple en exil n’avait pas été assez puissant pour le maintenir sur sa terre.
36:21-23
sauver l’honneur de mon saint nom. La restauration d’Israël, son retour sur la terre que Dieu lui avait promise par alliance (#Ge 12: 7), sanctifiera son grand nom et poussera les autres peuples à savoir « que je suis l’Eternel ». La gloire de Dieu constitue la raison principale du retour d’Israël dans son pays (cf. v. #Ez 36:32).

8 And you , O mountains of Israel , you shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to my people Israel : for they are at hand to come .
9 Behold, I will accept you, I turn to you , and you shall be tilled and sown .
10 And I will multiply men upon you in great numbers, the house of Israel, even all the cities shall be inhabited , and we will rebuild the ruins .
11 And I will multiply upon you man and beast : and they shall increase and be fruitful , I want you to be inhabited as before, and I will make you more good than before , you will know that I am the LORD .
12 I will bring men upon you , even my people Israel, and they shall possess thee , and shalt their inheritance, and thou shalt no more .
13 Thus saith the Lord GOD : Because you said: You devour men, and hast bereaved thy nations ,
14 Because of this you will no longer devour men no longer cause your nation , saith the Lord GOD .
15 I will not make you hear the insults of the nations , and thou shalt not bear the reproach of the peoples and no longer bereave your nation , saith the Lord GOD .
16 ¶ The word of the LORD came unto me , saying :
17 Son of man, when the house of Israel , when they lived in their own land, they defiled it by their way and by their works : their way was before me as the uncleanness of a woman in her impurity .
18 Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land , and for their idols wherewith they had polluted .
19 And I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed through the countries , I judged according to their way and according to their works.
20 They came to the nations where they went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them : It is the people of the LORD is his country they have left .
21 But I had pity for my holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations where they went.
22 Therefore say unto the house of Israel , Thus saith the Lord GOD : It is not because of you that I act this way, house of Israel, it is because of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you went .
23 And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the nations, which you have profaned among them . And the nations shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD , when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.

36:8-15 The land of Israel will be productive (vv. # Ez 36:8-9 ) , thickly populated (vv. # Ez 36:10-11 ) , and know peace (vv. # Ez 36:12 -15 ) . All these blessings will be fulfilled in the kingdom of the Messiah. The return of the Babylonian exile was only a partial fulfillment , a foretaste of the fullness that will prevail in the coming kingdom .
Retrospective 36:16-19 which describes the reason for the punishment by God to his people Israel had " stained " his land by his sins, and the Lord had cleansed. This stain is compared to that of the woman during her period (v. # Ez 36:17 ) .
36:20
profane my holy name. Even during their dispersion , the Israelites dishonored God in the eyes of the heathen. They thought the Lord of the people in exile was not powerful enough to keep his land .
36:21-23
pity for my holy name . The restoration of Israel , his return to the land that God had promised him marriage (# Ge 12: 7) , sanctify his great name and push other people to know that " I am the LORD ." The glory of God is the main reason for the return to his country of Israel (cf. v. . # Ez 36:32 ) .
