ÉZÉKIEL 38 : 10 À 16 ***
10 Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Eternel : En ce jour-là, des pensées s’élèveront dans ton cœur, Et tu formeras de mauvais desseins.
11 Tu diras : Je monterai contre un pays ouvert, Je fondrai sur des hommes tranquilles, En sécurité dans leurs demeures, Tous dans des habitations sans murailles, Et n’ayant ni verrous ni portes ;
12 J’irai faire du butin et me livrer au pillage, Porter la main sur des ruines maintenant habitées, Sur un peuple recueilli du milieu des nations, Ayant des troupeaux et des propriétés, Et occupant les lieux élevés du pays.
13 Séba et Dedan, les marchands de Tarsis, Et tous leurs lionceaux, te diront : Viens-tu pour faire du butin ? Est-ce pour piller que tu as rassemblé ta multitude, Pour emporter de l’argent et de l’or, Pour prendre des troupeaux et des biens, Pour faire un grand butin ?
14 ¶ C’est pourquoi prophétise, fils de l’homme, et dis à Gog : Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Eternel : Oui, le jour où mon peuple d’Israël vivra en sécurité, Tu le sauras.
15 Alors tu partiras de ton pays, des extrémités du septentrion, Toi et de nombreux peuples avec toi, Tous montés sur des chevaux, Une grande multitude, une armée puissante.
16 Tu t’avanceras contre mon peuple d’Israël, Comme une nuée qui va couvrir le pays. Dans la suite des jours, je te ferai marcher contre mon pays, Afin que les nations me connaissent, Quand je serai sanctifié par toi sous leurs yeux, ô Gog !

38:10-13 Description de la paix dont jouira Israël sous le régime du traité (de courte durée) conclu avec l’Antéchrist (#Da 9:27), dans la première moitié de la soixante-dixième semaine de Daniel. La mention de « villes sans murailles » renvoie à cette période de trois ans et demi où Israël sera en sécurité, sous la protection du prince à venir qui régnera sur le monde et est aussi appelé Antéchrist (cf. #Da 9:27). Lorsqu’il se sera retourné contre Israël, on assistera à une escalade de l’hostilité, et ce jusqu’à la fin des sept ans, jusqu’au moment où la grande coalition viendra pour piller Jérusalem et la terre promise (v. #Ez 38:12).

Il pourrait s’agir de vrais chevaux utilisés pour la guerre, s’il est vrai que les jugements de la tribulation (sceaux, trompettes, coupes) d’#Ap 6:1-16:@ auront donné un coup fatal aux industries productrices de machines et d’armes de guerre. D’autres y voient des chevaux et des armes symboliques (#Ez 39:3, #Ez 39:9), dont la signification était facile à comprendre à l’époque d’Ezéchiel, mais dont la forme sera différente, adaptée à l’époque de l’accomplissement de cette prophétie.

afin que les nations me connaissent. Cette notion, fréquente chez Ezéchiel, est liée au thème de la glorification de Dieu et de la manifestation de sa puissance souveraine (voir l’introduction {==> "Ez 1:1"}, thèmes historiques et théologiques {==> "Ez 1:1"}). Dieu est vainqueur, et il sera glorifié par son feu (cf. v. #Ez 38:19).

10 Thus saith the Lord God : In that day thoughts will come into your heart , and you will devise an evil scheme .
11 And thou shalt say : I will go up against an open country , I fall upon the quiet people , Safe in their homes , all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates ;
12 I will take the spoil and to take booty , Porter hand on ruins now inhabited On a gathered people from among the nations , which have gotten cattle and goods, that occupying the high places of the country.
13 Sheba and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof , shall say unto thee thou come to take a spoil ? Is it to plunder hast thou gathered thy company to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take great spoil ?
14 ¶ Therefore prophesy , son of man, and say unto Gog , Thus saith the Lord GOD : On that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely , shalt thou not know .
15 And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts , thou, and many people with thee , all of them riding on horses, a great company and a mighty army.
16 Thou shalt come up against my people Israel like a cloud to cover the land . In the following days, I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me , when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes, O Gog !

38:10-13 description enjoy the peace that Israel under the Treaty ( short ) concluded with the Antichrist (# Da 9:27 ) in the first half of the seventieth week of Daniel. The reference to " without walls " refers to the period of three and a half years where Israel will be safe under the protection of the prince to come to rule the world and is also called Antichrist (cf. # Da 9:27 ) . When it will be turned against Israel , there will be an escalation of hostility, until the end of the seven years , until the grand coalition will come to plunder Jerusalem and the Promised Land (v. # Ez 38:12 ) .

take the spoil and to take booty . The Antichrist will take over the world and the appropriates . The wealth of his empire is described in Ap # 18.

It could be real horses used for war, it is true that the judgments of the tribulation (seals , trumpets , bowls ) of # Rev 6:1-16 : @ have given a fatal blow to producing industries machines and weapons of war. Others see horses and symbolic weapons (# Ez 39:3 , Ezekiel 39:9 # ) , whose meaning was easy to understand at the time of Ezekiel , but the shape is different , tailored to the time of the fulfillment of this prophecy .
38:16
so that the nations may know me . This notion , common in Ezekiel, is linked to the theme of the glorification of God and the manifestation of His sovereign power (see Introduction { == > " Ez 1:1 "} , historical and theological themes { == > " Ez 1:1 " }). God is victorious, and He will be glorified by fire (cf. c. # Ez 38:19 ) .
