ÉZÉKIEL 38 : 17 À 23 ***
17 Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Eternel : Est-ce toi de qui j’ai parlé jadis Par mes serviteurs les prophètes d’Israël, Qui ont prophétisé alors, pendant des années, Que je t’amènerais contre eux ?
18 En ce jour-là, le jour où Gog marchera contre la terre d’Israël, Dit le Seigneur, l’Eternel, La fureur me montera dans les narines.
19 Je le déclare, dans ma jalousie et dans le feu de ma colère, En ce jour-là, il y aura un grand tumulte Dans le pays d’Israël.
20 Les poissons de la mer et les oiseaux du ciel trembleront devant moi, Et les bêtes des champs et tous les reptiles qui rampent sur la terre, Et tous les hommes qui sont à la surface de la terre ; Les montagnes seront renversées, Les parois des rochers s’écrouleront, Et toutes les murailles tomberont par terre.
21 J’appellerai l’épée contre lui sur toutes mes montagnes, Dit le Seigneur, l’Eternel ; L’épée de chacun se tournera contre son frère.
22 J’exercerai mes jugements contre lui par la peste et par le sang, Par une pluie violente et par des pierres de grêle ; Je ferai pleuvoir le feu et le soufre sur lui et sur ses troupes, Et sur les peuples nombreux qui seront avec lui.
23 Je manifesterai ma grandeur et ma sainteté, Je me ferai connaître aux yeux de la multitude des nations, Et elles sauront que je suis l’Eternel.

Est-ce toi de qui j’ai parlé. Voir la note sur le v. 2 {==> "Ez 38:2"}. Allusion aux prophéties générales relatives à cette époque et à ses protagonistes (cf. #Joe 3:9-17 ; #Am 5:11-12 ; #Sop 3:8). Même Daniel (#Da 2:41-44) y a fait allusion, au moins 30 ans avant #Ez 38. La formulation présuppose que ce qui était auparavant présenté en termes généraux est maintenant concentré dans la personne de Gog.
38:18-23
la fureur me montera. La patience de Dieu sera épuisée par les tentatives répétées d’annihiler Israël depuis l’« abomination » de l’Antéchrist (#Da 9:27 ; #Mt 24: 15), et il utilisera un grand tremblement de terre en Israël; la panique saisira les soldats envahisseurs (v. #Ez 38:21) qui retourneront leurs armes les uns contre les autres (cf. #2Ch 20:22-23). Il continuera à décimer leurs rangs par la peste, par un déluge de pluie, des orages de grêle, du feu et du soufre. Les descriptions sont ici identiques à celles de la deuxième moitié de la tribulation de sept ans en #Ap 6:12-17 ; #Ap 11:19 ; #Ap 16: 7-21 ; #Ap 19:11-21.

17 Thus saith the Lord GOD : Are you he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel , which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them?
18 In that day , the day when Gog shall come against the land of Israel , saith the Lord Jehovah , fury shall come up in my face .
19 I said in my jealousy and in the fire of my anger, in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel.
20 The fish of the sea and the birds of the sky will tremble before me, and the beasts of the field, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and all men who are on the surface of the earth, the mountains shall be thrown down, and walls rocks shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.
21 I call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains , saith the Lord Jehovah 's sword shall be against his brother.
22 And I will execute judgments against him with pestilence and with blood , For heavy rain and hailstones , I will rain fire and brimstone on him and on his troops and on the many peoples who are with him .
23 I will show my greatness and my holiness , I will make myself known in the eyes of many nations , and they shall know that I am the LORD.

Is it you who I have spoken. See the note on ver. { 2 == > " Ez 38:2 "} . Referring to the general prophecies about this time and its protagonists (cf. # Joe 3:9-17 ; # Am 5:11-12 ; # Sop 3:8). Even Daniel (# Da 2:41-44 ) has alluded at least 30 years before Ez # 38. The formulation assumes that what was previously presented in general terms is now concentrated in the person of Gog .

the fury shall come to me . God's patience is exhausted by repeated attempts to wipe Israel from the "abomination" of the Antichrist (# Da 9:27 ; # Mt 24: 15) , and use a large earthquake in Israel, the panic seize the invading soldiers (v. # Ez 38:21 ) who turn their weapons against each other (see # 2Ch 20:22-23 ) . It will continue to decimate their ranks by the plague, a deluge of rain, hail storms , fire and brimstone. The descriptions here are identical to those of the second half of the seven-year tribulation in Revelation 6:12-17 # , # Rev 11:19 ; # Rev 16: 7-21 ; # Rev 19:11-21 .
