1 ¶ Jésus, rempli du Saint-Esprit, revint du Jourdain, et il fut conduit par l’Esprit dans le désert,
2 où il fut tenté par le diable pendant quarante jours. Il ne mangea rien durant ces jours-là, et, après qu’ils furent écoulés, il eut faim.
3 Le diable lui dit : Si tu es Fils de Dieu, ordonne à cette pierre qu’elle devienne du pain.
4 Jésus lui répondit: Il est écrit : L’Homme ne vivra pas de pain seulement.
5 Le diable, l’ayant élevé, lui montra en un instant tous les royaumes de la terre,
6 et lui dit : Je te donnerai toute cette puissance, et la gloire de ces royaumes ; car elle m’a été donnée, et je la donne à qui je veux.
7 Si donc tu te prosternes devant moi, elle sera toute à toi.
8 Jésus lui répondit : Il est écrit : Tu adoreras le Seigneur, ton Dieu, et tu le serviras lui seul.
9 Le diable le conduisit encore à Jérusalem, le plaça sur le haut du temple, et lui dit : Si tu es Fils de Dieu, jette-toi d’ici en bas ;
10 (4-9) car il est écrit : (4-10) Il donnera des ordres à ses anges à ton sujet, Afin qu’ils te gardent ;
11 et : Ils te porteront sur les mains, De peur que ton pied ne heurte contre une pierre.
12 Jésus lui répondit : Il est dit : Tu ne tenteras point le Seigneur, ton Dieu.
13 Après l’avoir tenté de toutes ces manières, le diable s’éloigna de lui jusqu’à un moment favorable.

tenté … pendant quarante jours. De toute évidence, la tentation de Christ s’étendit sur l’ensemble des quarante jours de son jeûne. Matthieu et Luc n’en donnent qu’un récit condensé, où seulement trois tentations particulières sont mentionnées. Luc inverse l’ordre des deux dernières par rapport à Matthieu. Il structure quelquefois son récit de manière logique plutôt que chronologique. 1 ¶ Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
2 where he was tempted by the devil for forty days. He ate nothing during those days, and when they were ended, he was hungry.
3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.
4 Jesus answered him, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone.
5 And the devil, having high, showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the earth,
6 and said, I will give all this power, and the glory of them; because it was given to me, and I give it to whomever I want.
7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
8 Jesus answered him, It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.
9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, throw yourself down from here;
10 (4-9) as it is written (4-10) He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee;
11 and they shall bear you up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
12 Jesus answered him: It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
13 After having tried all these ways, the devil departed from him for a season.

... tempted for forty days. Obviously, the temptation of Christ spread throughout the forty days of fasting. Matthew and Luke do not give a condensed narrative, where only three specific temptations are mentioned. Luke reverses the order of the last two over Matthew. This structure sometimes its logical rather than chronological narrative. Luke must have had a reason to do so; Perhaps he wanted to finish his story of the temptation of Jesus in the Temple of Jerusalem (cf. v #Lu. 4: 9), a site that is of great importance in his Gospel (see Introduction == { > "Lu 1: 1"}, {historical and theological themes ==> "Lu 1: 1"}). ==> https://www.chercherjesus-christ.com/news/l%60evangile-selon-luc-60-61-apr%C3%A8s-jesus-christ/ ).

for a season. The temptations of Satan against Christ did not end so far, they persisted on the contrary throughout his ministry (cf. Heb 4:15 #) and reached their peak in Gethsemane (#Lu 22: 39-46).
