1 ¶ (142-1) Cantique de David. Lorsqu’il était dans la caverne. Prière. (142-2) De ma voix je crie à l’Éternel, De ma voix j’implore l’Éternel.
142:1-8
Psaume composé dans les mêmes circonstances que le #Ps 57 (d’après le titre). David y relate les jours sombres où il se cachait dans la caverne d’Adullam (#1S 22: 1), à l’époque où Saül cherchait à attenter à sa vie (#1S 18:1-24: 2). Sa situation paraissait, à ce moment-là en tout cas, désespérée sans l’intervention divine. Le #Ps 91 livre les vérités qui apportent la solution.

2 (142-3) Je répands ma plainte devant lui, Je lui raconte ma détresse.

4 ¶ (142-5) Jette les yeux à droite, et regarde ! Personne ne me reconnaît, Tout refuge est perdu pour moi, Nul ne prend souci de mon âme.

5 (142-6) Éternel ! c’est à toi que je crie. Je dis : Tu es mon refuge, Mon partage sur la terre des vivants.

1 ¶ (142-1) Song of David. When he was in the cave. Pray. (142-2) With my voice I cry unto the LORD, and with my voice I implore the LORD.
142: 1-8
Psalm composed in the same circumstances as #Ps 57 (from the title). David tells of the dark days when he was hiding in the cave of Adullam (# 1S 22: 1), at the time Saul was trying to strike at his life (# 1S 18: 1-24: 2). His situation seemed, at that moment in any case, desperate without the intervention of God. The #Ps 91 delivers the truths that bring the solution.

6 (142-7) Be attentive to my cries! For I am very unhappy. Deliver me from those who pursue me! For they are stronger than me.
7 (142-8) Draw my soul out of his prison, that I may praise thy name. The righteous will come to surround me, when you have done me good.
His prison. That is, the cave in which David was hiding.
