1 ¶ Louange. De David. Je t’exalterai, ô mon Dieu, mon roi ! Et je bénirai ton nom à toujours et à perpétuité.
145:1-21
Ce psaume forme une magnifique conclusion aux 73 poèmes de David recueillis dans le psautier. Le roi d’Israël y exalte le Roi éternel, le célébrant pour ce qu’il est, ce qu’il a fait et ce qu’il a promis. Ce psaume est riche non seulement dans son contenu, mais aussi dans sa forme, puisqu’il est alphabétique (chaque v. commençant par une nouvelle lettre de l’alphabet hébreu, dans l’ordre). Il commence le grand crescendo de louange qui clôt le psautier et qui pourrait être appelé « Hallel final » (#Ps 145:1-150:2).

mon Dieu, mon roi. Bien que roi d’Israël, David reconnaissait que Dieu était son souverain (cf. #Ps 5:3 ; #Ps 84:4).
2 Chaque jour je te bénirai, Et je célébrerai ton nom à toujours et à perpétuité.
3 L’Éternel est grand et très digne de louange, Et sa grandeur est insondable.
4 Que chaque génération célèbre tes œuvres, Et publie tes hauts faits !
5 Je dirai la splendeur glorieuse de ta majesté ; Je chanterai tes merveilles.
6 On parlera de ta puissance redoutable, Et je raconterai ta grandeur.
7 Qu’on proclame le souvenir de ton immense bonté, Et qu’on célèbre ta justice !
8 L’Éternel est miséricordieux et compatissant, Lent à la colère et plein de bonté.
9 L’Éternel est bon envers tous, Et ses compassions s’étendent sur toutes ses œuvres.
10 ¶ Toutes tes œuvres te loueront, ô Éternel ! Et tes fidèles te béniront.
11 Ils diront la gloire de ton règne, Et ils proclameront ta puissance,

règne. David recourt ici à la notion la plus large, dans les Écritures, de royaume: il s’agit du règne éternel de Dieu sur toute chose, dès avant la création et par la suite (cf. #Ps 10:16 ; #Da 4:3 ; #Da 7:27).
12 Pour faire connaître aux fils de l’homme ta puissance Et la splendeur glorieuse de ton règne.
13 Ton règne est un règne de tous les siècles, Et ta domination subsiste dans tous les âges.
14 L’Éternel soutient tous ceux qui tombent, Et il redresse tous ceux qui sont courbés.
145:14-16
Accent sur la « grâce commune » de Dieu envers toute l’humanité (cf. #Mt 5:45 ; #Lu 6:35 ; #Ac 14: 17 ; #Ac 17: 25).
15 Les yeux de tous espèrent en toi, Et tu leur donnes la nourriture en son temps.
16 Tu ouvres ta main, Et tu rassasies à souhait tout ce qui a vie.
17 L’Éternel est juste dans toutes ses voies, Et miséricordieux dans toutes ses œuvres.
18 L’Éternel est près de tous ceux qui l’invoquent, De tous ceux qui l’invoquent avec sincérité ;
19 Il accomplit les désirs de ceux qui le craignent, Il entend leur cri et il les sauve.
20 L’Éternel garde tous ceux qui l’aiment, Et il détruit tous les méchants.
il détruit tous les méchants. Ce qui attend les méchants, c’est une éternité à vivre loin de la présence de Dieu, dans l’étang de feu (cf. #2Th 1:9 ; #Ap 20:11-15).
21 Que ma bouche publie la louange de l’Éternel, Et que toute chair bénisse son saint nom, A toujours et à perpétuité !

1 Praise. From David. I will exalt you, O my God, my King! And I will bless your name for ever and ever.
145: 1-21
This psalm is a wonderful conclusion to the 73 poems of David collected in the psalter. The King of Israel exalts the eternal King, celebrating him for what he is, what he did and what he promised. This psalm is rich not only in its content, but also in its form, since it is alphabetical (each v. Beginning with a new letter of the Hebrew alphabet, in order). It begins the great crescendo of praise that closes the psalter and which could be called "final Hallel" (#Ps 145: 1-150: 2).

My God, my King. Although King of Israel, David acknowledged that God was his sovereign (cf #Ps 5: 3; #Ps 84: 4).
2 And I will bless thee every day, and I will praise thy name for ever and ever.
3 The LORD is great and very worthy of praise, and his greatness is unfathomable.
4 Let every generation celebrate your works, and publish your deeds.
5 I will say the glorious splendor of thy majesty; I will sing your wonders.
6 They shall speak of thy mighty power, and I will recount thy greatness.
7 Proclaim the remembrance of thy immense goodness, and praise thy righteousness.
8 The LORD is merciful and compassionate, Slow to anger and full of goodness.
9 The LORD is good to all, and his compassions spread over all his works.
10 ¶ All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD. And your faithful ones will bless you.

reign. David here uses the broadest notion of the kingdom in the Scriptures: this is the eternal kingdom of God over everything, from before creation and thereafter (cf. #Ps 10:16; #Da 4 : 3; #Da 7:27).
12 To make known to the sons of man your power and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
13 Thy kingdom is a reign of all ages, and thy dominion subsists in all ages.
14 The LORD holds up all those who fall, and he righteouseth all that are bowed down.

Emphasis on the "common grace" of God towards all mankind (cf. Mt 5:45; #Lu 6:35; #Ac 14:17; #Ac 17:25).
15 The eyes of all hope in you, and you give them food in due season.
16 Thou shalt open thy hand, and satisfy all that hath life.
17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and merciful in all his works.
18 The LORD is near all those who call on him, of all those who call on him sincerely;
19 He fulfills the desires of those who fear him, He hears their cry and saves them.
20 The LORD preserves all those who love him, and destroys all the wicked.
He destroys all the wicked. What awaits the wicked is an eternity to live far from the presence of God in the lake of fire (cf. # 2Th 1: 9; #Ap 20: 11-15).
21 Let my mouth speak the praise of the LORD, and let all flesh bless his holy name, ever and ever.
